Dhaka City Corporation was recognized as the Dacca town on august 1, 1984. The original designated chairman was ananda chandra roy. preceding to that, a board for the upgrading of Dacca was fashioned in 1823. The Act of 1884 further the condition of selected legislative body called commissioner. In 1978, it gain status as Dhaka metropolis Corporation in 1990, it became Dhaka City Corporation. It is separated into 90 wards. In 1982, two next municipality Mirpur and Gulshan -- were amalgamated with Dhaka Municipality. In 1983, it was renamed as Dhaka Municipal Corporation. Finally, in 1990, it was renamed as Dhaka City Corporation. Until 1994, mayors were agreed by the Government. The first designated mayor by admired vote took office in 1994. As of 2006, sadek hossain khoka is the serving mayor
